CityNews has learned Bombardier will not meet its revised, scaled-back streetcar delivery target for 2017, once again disappointing the Toronto Transit Commission and delaying the rollout of new streetcars on Toronto streets.
The Montreal-based company originally committed to delivering 120 streetcars to the TTC by now, according to TTC spokesperson Brad Ross, but CityNews has learned Bombardier has only delivered 57 streetcars.
Bombardier recently announced it would provide 65 vehicles by the end of the year. Two weeks ago that number was downgraded to 64.
In a statement to CityNews, Bombardier said a total of 63 streetcars will be shipped to the TTC by December 31 and “three cars will arrive early January.”
A three-city investigation CityNews took part in found that Bombardier was having significant troubles delivering transit vehicles to both San Francisco and New York City.
Today’s revelation comes on the same day Metrolinx announced it has slashed its order of light rail transit vehicles from Bombardier from 182 to 76.
The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza is the latest entrant on the “shitty men in media” list to be accused of sexual misconduct, giving further credit to the list’s veracity.
The Daily Beast quotes The New Yorker as stating that they have “learned that Ryan Lizza engaged in what we believe was improper sexual conduct.”
“We have reviewed the matter and, as a result, have severed ties with Lizza,” the outlet’s statement reportedly continues. “Due to a request for privacy, we are not commenting further.”
In a statement to BuzzFeed, Lizza is quoted as stating, “I am dismayed that The New Yorker has decided to characterize a respectful relationship with a woman I dated as somehow inappropriate.”

The “shitty men in media list” had Lizza pegged for inappropriate direct messages to women.
Lizza is now the seventh man on the list, which was first discussed by Cernovich Media in late October.

Presenting himself as a pillar of the progressive left and feminism, newly uncovered details of Cenk Uygur’s past suggest–wait for it–he may be a hypocrite.
Before he got to signal his virtue from the mountaintops of YouTube’s front page, Cenk Uygur expressed pro-rape views, championed sexual harassment, prostitution and human trafficking, and racist views of Native Americans.
In an archived post from 2000, Uygur calls women genetically “flawed” because they don’t want to have sex as often as men—a remark that popped up in one of several instances where Uygur complained about not having sex while living in Miami.
“It seems like there is a sea of tits here, and I am drinking in tiny droplets. I want to dive into the whole god damn ocean,” he wrote. “Obviously, the genes of women are flawed. They are poorly designed creatures who do not want to have sex nearly as often as needed for the human race to get along peaceably and fruitfully.”
In another now-deleted post from 2003, the progressive ideologue wrote about seeing and feeling up countless women while drunk at Mardi Gras.
“I had one of the best nights of my life at Mardi Gras. I kissed over 23 different women, saw and felt countless breasts, and was in a wonderful drunken stupor thanks to my friend John Daniels,” he said, referring to Jack Daniels whiskey.
An Uber driver accused of assaulting a female customer when she fell asleep on the journey home has been cleared after a jury heard she tried to hug him.
Najamulhassan Qureshi, 35, from Hounslow, west London, was alleged to have climbed onto the back seat with the 22-year-old woman, kissed her neck and slid a hand up her skirt.
She then realised what was happening and managed to escape from the car, parked near her home in the Isle of Dogs in east London, the Old Bailey heard.
Qureshi later denied sexually assaulting the woman and claimed that she got ‘very angry’ when he sneezed on her mobile phone and rejected her drunken advances.
He insisted the woman was a drunken troublemaker who tried to get into the front passenger seat to hug him.
The married father-of-one, from Pakistan, told jurors he pushed the woman back and told her to leave his car in the early hours of January 23.
